A Bit About Me

2.jpg

I have been writing tech content since 2012. My experience ranges from small startups to some of the largest tech companies in the world. I have experience writing B2B, user-facing and highly technical content. As a bonus, I also have over 20 years of experience as a songwriter, composer, musician, and artist.

I am comfortable working as part of a larger team, on my own, or cross functionally as a project manager or team lead.

A lifelong Bay Area resident, I graduated from Sonoma State University with a BA in psychology in 2009. While in school, I worked at the IT Helpdesk, an experience that expanded on the interest I’d already had in technology as an electronic musician and gamer. I spent a few years as a substitute teacher, before deciding to pursue a career in tech..

I switched gears and went to work for my first startup, Dropcam, in 2011. While working as a tech support agent, I would identify knowledge gaps in our help center and write articles to fill them, eventually being given ownership of the help center. Several years later, Dropcam was acquired by Nest. At Nest, I had the opportunity to work with the content team to migrate Dropcam’s help content into Nest’s help center, solidifying my career path as a writer.

I understand the importance of writing to an audience and believe the best content is concise while informative, easy to scan, easy to search, and SEO optimized. I am someone who’s just as comfortable pouring over datasheets and research to develop comprehensive white papers and B2B material as I am writing simple consumer facing content.

I’m quick with a joke and a smile, carrying a positive friendly, positive attitude into my workplace. I keep a cool head under pressure, set realistic timetables for myself or my team, and consistently hit deadlines.
